Submission #27255 by Beth Judea's Men's Club - Long Grove, IL (642)
Each year, our 6th and 7th grade Hebrew school students join the Men's Club for the World Wide Wrap. Men's Club members visit the classrooms before the actual Wrap to discuss the history of tefillin and why we wrap, and our Rabbi will demonstrate sofer writing to better understand the parchments in each pair.
During the actual wrap, Men's Club members will help the students and family members wrap tefillin using spare sets. The service will be optimized for teachings and discussions. We also discuss one of our member's broken down sets of tefillin.
After the service, we will serve breakfast while discussing wearing tefillin with disabilities. Not only can this spark larger conversations about tefillin, but we're also able to expand our knowledge and become a more inclusive club and synagogue.
