The FJMC is pleased to announce its second series of podcasts, the Health and Wealth podcast. Realizing that a younger generation often gets its information in a way that allows for multitasking, podcasts have become an important segment. Podcasts allow you to absorb information whether you’re riding on your bike or Peloton (or recumbent bicycle), taking your morning walk or run, or doing anything when a written article would not be as accessible. A podcast is a great way to learn new things. [FYI. There are over 500,000 active podcast series on iTunes, in more than 100 languages.]
This podcast deals with subjects of importance to men whatever their age, whether in their early 30's, are looking forward to retirement, or enjoying retirement. The two things which are most important to enjoying your life are both Health and Wealth (or sufficient wealth to do the things which you'd like to do).
The Health article of the podcast is read by Dr. Paul Davidson, from the New England Region, a Medical Doctor specializing in Gastrointestinal and General Surgery and Psychiatry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. And the Wealth article is read by Rob Blitzer, a non-practicing CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and account director for a software company in New Jersey. Steve Lessman, from the Midwest Region does the introduction and transition, and the person that puts all the parts together for a coherent whole is Dr. David Edwards, PhD in Biochemistry, who retired as Professor Emeritus from the University of Pittsburgh, and an active FJMC member from the Tri-State Region. Bruce Fagan of the Middle Atlantic Region, did the cover art.
If you’re reading this and the thought of being involved in creation of a podcast interests you (as none of the men responsible had any experience in doing what they are doing with the FJMC), we’d love to hear from you. You can reach us by email at podcasts@fjmc.org.
Allan Kahan is currently the First Vice President of the FJMC, but he’s done so many things he had never done before his FJMC involvement, which he has found both fun and enriching, including, but not limited to: desktop publishing a paper newsletter for club leadership; webmaster for the FJMC (without knowing anything about HTML or other web related stuff); taught leadership development; and had the idea for this podcast, and was, with the help of other men, making this idea into a reality. He lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, right outside of Washington, DC. He retired from the Federal Government as a Program Analyst, but was really the database administrator - or, as he called it “the Database Guru”- for the Internal Affairs office of the Transportation Security Administration. Allan is also an attorney, and practices small business collections as well.
